An assorted classified listing offers homes apartments ranch land and lots with prices from 350 to 5000 dollars. Brame Realty advertises land near Cherokee including 558 acres with 473 acres grassland two miles northeast of Cherokee Creek. Also notes Wilbur C Treadwell optometrist and a posted pasture.
Notice that Wilbur C. Treadwell, optometrist, will be in his Liano office Monday for fittings. Relief from headache and eyestrain expected.
The National Youth Administration of Texas elected A. J. Wirtz of Austin as chairman at a meeting in Austin. Members endorsed the Freshman College Center concept and supported C C C college transfer camps and cooperative college dorms or work projects for 1935-36 to expand access to education while maintaining current work hours and pay.
The State of Texas commands citation for all interested in the estate of Francis Arizona Chandolin deceased. They must appear at the Llano County Court on the second Monday in October 1935 to contest the resignation of administrator Geo M Watkins and approve his exhibit and account. Publication of this citation is required in a Llano County newspaper before October 14 1935.
Local ad announces mattress overhaul service at A S Johnsons Furniture Store with limited weekly operation on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. It also advertises a Majestic tube console radio for 35 dollars and notes Bruhl's Drug Store.
In Quartzsite Arizona on September 23 a pyramid of Wari colored stone topped by a copper camel marks the final resting place of Hadji Ali known as Hi Jolly a famed Arab camel driver in Arizona. The memorial honors his role with the Army camel experiment started in 1856 which failed as camels perished or were abandoned while he remained in the desert until his death in 1902. Built by Jim Edwards highway department foreman the monument uses locally sourced stones and will enclose a copper casket with mementos and dust from the last camel.
Austin reports state health officer Dr. John Wy Brown notes more than 1500 Texans die yearly in automobile crashes. He warns auto danger far exceeding other diseases and urges public education for safer driving and walking to curb the rising toll.
Oklahoma horticulturist E. E. Burk outlines steps to ripen field tomatoes with maturity at harvest as key. Store mature green fruit at 50 degrees for 14 to 18 days or at 55 degrees for storage or delayed ripening. 60 to 70 degrees speeds ripening but risks storage quality. Do not wrap green mats. ethylene gas can accelerate ripening and prevent decay.
Brady visitors Mr and Mrs O F Barnett and children joined Scott Hill and Mr Peterson of Hallettsville for a weekend with Mr and Mrs T Hill and with Corpus Christi based Charles Gibson. P W Matlock traveled to Alabama to be with his mother after an accident left her critically ill. Mrs Charles Rimes stayed in Austin with daughter Christine Rimes from Wednesday to Saturday. Emily Dalrymple of San Antonio visited Llano to see her mother E J Dalrymple and relatives.
