Highland Lakes Shrine Club Installs New Officers

The Highland Lakes Shrine Club reorganized May 11 and will hold an installation meeting Monday at 7 30 PM at the German American Restaurant. All Shriners in the area are eligible for membership with dues of 5 dollars yearly. A steak dinner precedes the business meeting and charter members will be listed for those enrolled by meeting time.

Mid-June Brings Mild Weather With No Rain

June record shows no rainfall so far and pastures show 155 dryness. Temperatures have been mild, with lows near 67 and highs around 93 degrees over the past week.

Supper to Highlight Men s Golf Tourney in Llano

The Men's Partnership Golf Tournament in Llano will be paired with a park supper on Saturday night at 8 30. Llano families should bring enough food for their own unit and four out of town guests. The association provides paper ware and drinks. Twenty Llano lady golfers attended a lunch at Mrs H J Hoerster s home to plan the park supper.

Artists Host Open House at Buchanan Dam Center

The Buchanan Arts and Crafts Club showcased 300 pictures and crafts at a Sunday open house for their new center on Highway 29. More than 200 guests attended, with officers greeting visitors and refreshments served by members.

Llano Pony League Edges Marble Falls In Thriller

Llano's Pony League won 6-5 over Marble Falls at the new field as Leland Stewart’s ending hit sealed the comeback with Marble Falls leading 58 in the seventh. Mickey Wirdell homer in the first sparked Llano. Stonewall had defeated Llano 10-8 earlier. Next visit Llano hosts Kingsland June 22 at 8 p.m. Coaches James Beesley and Perry Randolph.

Rabies Clinic Set At Tow Saturday

A rabies clinic will be held Saturday morning from 9 to 12 at Martin's O K Grocery in Tow. Citizens sponsor the event and residents may bring dogs and cats for vaccination by Dr. Powell Charlton of Kingsland Veterinary Clinic.

Encouraging Report on Llano County Museum Renovation

The Llano County Historical Society met at the Bruhl building to review progress on renovating the Bruhl gift building into a museum. Raymond Winkel led the museum committee with Ross Baiman as ex officio president and plans include an entirely redone interior as fundraising continues county-wide for the project.

Neighborhood Center Seeks Volunteers for Clean Up and Programs

The Neighborhood Center on West Luce Street requests volunteers for cleaning painting and yard work with tasks continuing today and Friday June 16. A new weekly activity starts Monday featuring story hours for children aged three to five from 9 30 to 11 with readers supervisors and snack donations welcome. Masons Elect Hyde Worshipful Master

Hyde Don Hyde of Buchanan Dam was elected worshipful master of Llano Lodge No. 242 AF and AM at the lodge meeting to succeed Hal Cunningham. Other officers named include Max Alexander senior warden and Norman Livingston junior warden. Installation set for July 11 at the next stated meeting.

Ten Llano College graduates look ahead to careers with two Texas A&M alumni already starting new posts. Dexter Sagebiel will be assistant county agent for Taylor County in Abilene and has honors including Amie E Wilson Award and Phi Kappa Phi. Lester Osbourn serves as assistant agricultural agent in Valley Spring awaiting further assignments.
