Donna q sil 1 '67 Rodeo Queen and attendants rode in the parade wearing formals and colorful western attire. They were judged on poise and horsemanship during the event and attended a tea at the Culture Club building before the rodeo’s first performance.
Albert Brown of Liano suffered injuries when his car overturned on Highway 20 near Castell Road during a Sunday incident at 6 20 and 6 30 p.m. Two passengers Donald Berryhill of Liano and Elmer Booth of Charlotte were also injured. All four occupants, Brown Berryhill Booth and the driver of the second car, were treated at Liano Memorial Hospital and released. Both cars were destroyed. Highway patrolman Bill Shipp investigated the crashes.
The First Christian Church hosts a barbecue lunch in the fellowship hall after Sunday services to honor Reverend Beuce Fields and his family on June 11. The event features barbecue chicken and covered dishes as part of the church gathering.
The Llano Golf Club announces a 54 hole invitational with best ball play. Qualifying rounds run June 10 to 16, leading to the final June 17 and 18 at the club course.
June events include a shagié art exhibit titled Credis ope shagié with tea service 3 to 6 pm, Busbenen Dam at Liene plays Bienco. Lions Club meeting at noon. golf ladies tee off at Maine Falls. Kingsiand Pony hosts weet. June 16 is qualifier deadline for a 48 team golf tournament with 15 entry fee per person and prizes for flights and medalists.
Two arrests were made Wednesday in connection with a burglary at the Ramblin Rose early that morning. Sheriff Gale Ligon said more arrests were expected, and officers began work on the case around 2 o'clock.
The American Water Works Association Southwest Section awards the City of Templetes a certificate of merit for excellence in safety. Mel C. Binny chairs the Safety Committee noting smaller utilities face tougher safety implementations and the award recognizes promising safe work habits.
Six Liano County 4H club members attended Camp Christian during District 7 4H activities. Melanie Banner is named among the participants.
A community show and donation effort took place on Monday August 7 with proceeds supporting local neighbors. Organizers credited volunteers and the neighborhood association for the successful outreach.
Llane County Art Association hosted a successful Roede Exhibit with three signers on the register. Prize results published earlier list Tina Hunger as second and third in elementary color division. Carrog Ashley Jr. drew the door prize number for an oil painting donated by Mrs. Dollie Nabinger of Fredericksburg. Mr. and Mrs. Howerd Lange vacationed in Dallas last week.
The State Highway Commission announced a seal coating contract for 06.276 miles of highway in Central Texas totaling 18.362 miles in Llano County. The Plainview firm High Plains Pavers, Inc. won the project with work in Llano Blanco Burnet and Gillespie Counties. The contract covers segments extending to Highway 71 and includes the Llano Prairie Mountain read area.
The Llano County Historical Society will meet at the museum to discuss the fate of the Llano County Museum building undergoing remodeling. The gathering will consider plans for the structure and its future uses and may shape preservation actions.
The City of Llano Utilities float won the grand prize in the Llano rodeo parade and also took first in the Llano County commercial division. Other divisions saw Central Texas Electric Co op finish second in Ace float, Rainbow Girls win organizational, and Gege's Minimax top in city commercial.
Mrs Max Alexander will be installed as worthy matron of the Lisno Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 216 at Masonic Hall at 8 oclock Saturday June 10. Installing officer will be Mrs Iva Jennings of Lometa with Liano Rainbow Girls providing entertainment. Refreshments follow. The first regular meeting of the club year is set for Monday night June 13 at 8 oclock.
Mr and Mrs Albert Greham and family from Austin visited last weekend with their grandmother Mrs Walter Groenwelge.
Questions surround the Red Cross swimming program starting June 19 with registration June 15 16 17. Eligibility for lifesaving depends on age and basic swimming ability not on completion of junior lifesaving. Two six week sessions run June 19 July 14 and July 3 28 with options for two badges.
Sept 5 marks the start of the 1967 68 school year as announced by C M Nalls on Wednesday. The first day falls the day after Labor Day to help families plan summer vacations.
The Parks and Wildlife Commission explores extending deer season from November 1 to January 15 to reduce overpopulated whitetail numbers. A public hearing schedule in counties under regulatory authority will begin June 5 to gather reactions before the July meeting sets deer harvest rules and other game regulations.
