Private First Class Lloyd Beesley 19 son of Mr and Mrs H Pevsley Buchanan Dam is awarded the Order of the Purple Heart for wounds suffered at Tarawa while serving with Col Raphael Griffin at a Marine base in the Pacific He lived with his parents on a ranch attended Liano High School and enlisted in March 1949.
Llano County records the death of one of its oldest residents Mrs. Frank Otto Sr died Tuesday morning at 7 00 in Llano. The obituary notes her long life and burial followed yesterday.
Shirley Williams of Llano County urges 600 volunteers as the Red Cross mobile unit comes back to Llano next week. A schedule will be set by Monday, with blood drives planned at the fire hall and drugstores. A coupon on the page offers drop off or mail dates for life saving plasma donations.
Mr Williams notes changes in February when a mobile unit visited Lino many were ineligible due to recent blood donations. Now the eight week rule has passed since a bus last visited the San Antonio center so more people will qualify. Registration begins Monday at 9:45 with bleeding at 10:00.
