Lititz prepares for a three day Community Show with music by the Disxie land orchestra and Lititz High School band. Exhibits include auto models, poultry displays, and merchants booths managed by the American Legion.
Choice feeders will be offered at a public sale at the Warwick House on Saturday afternoon. They will be on exhibit Friday and Saturday prior to the sale.
Hallowe'en on Monday brings groups of costumed youths to Lititz streets. The season features several Halloween parties in homes around the town as young people enjoy the festive observance.
Swiss carver Pred Warther brings a carved ivory and walnut display of the locomotive evolution to Lititz streets on Saturday with Archie Rosenberg as the Barker. The exhibit, valued at 50000, has toured Baltimore and New York Central station lobby. Over 900 attended in Ephrata last week, and Warther has been approached by rail and museum offers.
Richard Snyder of Lititz was elected president and Charles Admas, formerly of this place, treasurer of the Freshman class at Bethlehem Moravian College.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Sturgis, the boroughs' longest married couple, marked their 58th wedding anniversary. He is 84 and she 77, healthy and still traveling yearly. They wed October 21, 1869, at the Moravian church, with a large congregation and customary wine and cake. He was born in Lititz, she in Lexington, and they have spent their entire married life here.
Election notes Republicans solid on the General Election date of Tuesday May 8. County Commissioner candidate Guy Bard on the Democratic ticket faces strong opposition in Lancaster from a split in the party. Bard is known locally for serving as principal of the old Warwick Township High School.
A three layer White King cake decorated with bride and groom figures will be displayed in A. R. Keller's bakery booth at Snavely's Garage. Paul Kauffman, foreman, oversaw the cake. Visitors may guess its weight. the closest guess wins the cake.
Miss Florence Bueh of Atlantic City visited her sister Miss Ella Bueh. After ten years as housekeeper at Haddon Hall, she left on October 1 and will open a rooming house in Atlantic City, with many friends wishing her well.
The Public Service Commission refused Charles Krick permission to operate an auto bus service for trips. He already held privileges to convey school children and workers to the Armstrong limestone factory. Edison and E. L. trolley companies opposed, arguing they could serve the traveling public.
The Star Course launches this evening in the High School auditorium with the Theresa Sheehan Concert Party offering a delightful program. Reserved-seat tickets are available at Moyer's drug store.
H. H. Spayd of Minersville with Civil War lineage told of General Meade’s night before Gettysburg from a platform in Washington. A red barn and Confederate fire framed his memory as he spoke, then collapsed and died shortly after. He left a Philadelphia niece at his bedside.
Indian relics are on display at Wertsch's jewelry store Moyer's drug store and Doster's store through Lloyd Royer who shows arrow heads axes spears beads bowls and other stone crafted items from his collection. Roger found many pieces in the county and an Indian seat at Doster's is 160 years old and a dug up old Indian pipe with a metal triangle baffling students of lore.
Henry B Buch celebrated his ninety second birthday with 109 letters and many cards and 114 friends visiting. Music came from the Brown brothers Lancaster relatives and a chrysanthemum bouquet from United Evangelical church youths. He lives with daughter Mrs James Sesseman on Broad Street and remains active as a coachmaker and musician.
Lititz firefighters invite the public to a Saturday supper featuring home cooked fare and 2000 oyster sandwiches as a fundraiser. A two and a half year old boy woke his father with cries, preventing possible fatal coal gas poisoning for his family. the eight year old girl and thirteen year old boy collapsed but recovered after treatment.
Hospital cases include Mrs. Harry Weitzel of Orange street and Mrs. Albert Machmer of East Main street taken to Lancaster hospitals for treatment this week. Monroe Shue Jr returned from Lancaster hospital after appendicitis surgery. Frank Burkholder returned home on Tuesday after almost a month at St Josephs hospital and is showing good improvement.
Seaman and Leed have opened No. 2 warehouse of the Lancaster Wholesale Grocery Co at 231 Shippen street Lancaster. The new wholesale house will carry a full line of fruits vegetables and bananas.
A child born to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Martin near Ruch's old mill increases the family to twelve members. The newborn joins a large farming household continuing to expand the clan.

Lititz community witnesses the completion of a pioneer type log cabin built by Boy Scout labor under Scout leaders. The structure features wide plank flooring a big open fireplace and iron bound doors reflecting early frontier design with emphasis on self reliance and outdoor education.
