Mr and Mrs Samuel Foltz received a large box of apples grown in Washington sent by their daughter in North Yakima. The fruit was the finest we ever saw red cheeked in crimson with light red and pink shades. Nearly all were uniform in size and very pretty.

Jacob Mentzer, a long-time Ephrata resident and cigar-packer, died at Reading Ho melopathic Hospital on Friday morning from stomach troubles, aged forty-five. He was son of John Mentzer, former Terre Hill schoolteacher. He married three times, survived by two brothers and two sisters, and by his third wife Lillie Brugger. Funeral held at the home of his father-in-law, John B Brugger, Eph rata, on Monday afternoon.

Leon Elwood Rickert aged sixteen, son of Mr and Mrs Charles Rickert of Manheim, died at St Josephs Hospital Lancaster after surgery for appendicitis. He worked at the asbestos works in Manheim. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Evangelical Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Aunt Mrs P L Yeiser of the borough was an aunt of the deceased.

Death of William Gibner Farm Hand in Oregon
William Gibner a 75 year old German native who lived with L W Shirk in Oregon for years died Sunday at General Hospital Lancaster from an abscess. He had no known relatives in this country and worked among Manheim township farmers for over thirty five years. The funeral was held Wednesday at the Oregon Church with burial in the adjoining graveyard.

Auto Crash Breaks Girl's Nose Near East Petersburg
On Thursday afternoon of last week Andrew Gochenour lost control on the Manheim and Lancaster pike near East Petersburg. The Buick struck a walnut tree after veering into a wire fence. Guinea fowl boom as fall brings plentiful flocks

Recovered His Gold Watch by Lancaster Find
Hayes was employed on the Lutheran church construction when a $60 gold watch lost on September 25 near Spring grounds was recovered. Mr. Wilson, who had given up hope, received a letter from a Lancaster man last Thursday saying it had been found. Constable Greek retrieved the watch on Friday, restoring it to Wilson and praising the newspaper’s help.
