Carl Grosh of the Lititz Fire Company toured Shamokin’s Henry Clay colliery with State Firemen delegates. He heard how coal is mined from 1800 feet underground, lifted by a cable system, washed, and shipped. A Lancaster man passing a car on a hill caused a collision near Mt. Joy injuring Mrs. Simcox and her family. Mrs. Simcox suffered a cut leg, hip injuries, and possible internal injuries. York Pageant Marks 260th Anniversary Events
