Victor Wagner has been elected superintendent of athletics at Lititz High School as the gymnasium nears completion. He plans two basketball calls. expects winners if there are candidates reporting. War exhibit train to visit town October 12 with Liberty bonds
The Liberar exhibit train will arrive Saturday morning October 12 at 7 o'clock and stay 40 minutes displaying captured German trophies. Army tanks and anti aircraft guns will be aboard for viewing while four speakers and a guard of eight Marines address crowds and promote Liberty bonds. The special train includes six coaches two flat cars and travels next to Manheim arriving around 5 to 6 o'clock with plans for further stops.

Thousands Hear Spring Garden Band In Lititz Concert
The Spring Garden band from York drew the largest Lititz crowd ever last Saturday evening. Estimates range from 3,000 to 6,000 as people filled the square and surrounding streets. The 2 hour program featured patriotic and varied selections, with encores and abundant applause from a festive crowd. Merchants reported strong business during the event and hope for a similar concert next year.

Miss Rickert’s Will Includes Charity Bequests
The will of the late Miss Adelaide L. Rickert probated in this borough names Mrs. 8. G. E. Beckler of Lititz as executrix and lists several charitable bequests including $100 to the Moravian Home Association, $100 to Moravian church trustees, $50 for cemetery upkeep, $50 to Mount Joy Cemetery Association, and $100 to two cousins. After expenses, the estate estimated at $5,000 to $6,000 is to be split between Esther B. Wolfe of Philadelphia and Mary Melman of Dover, Ohio. The local School Board plans a public sale on Cedar and Orange streets on Monday evening, Got. 7,87 Folvek, of the sand stone carving.

Sudden Death of John M Horting Shocks Local Community
John M Horting son of Mr and Mrs Horting residing east of the borough Smits lite died suddenly of heart failure while seated at his home on a Saturday. He was 20 years old, born in Lancaster and moved to near town nine years ago with his parents. A graduate of Franklin and Marshall Academy he was active in the Young Men’s Business League of Lititz and other local clubs. He had recently helped run the Rome distillery with his father. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the house with Revs Stuart Cramer and George B Raezer officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Lancaster.

Miss Adelaide Louise Rickert longtime resident of the borough died at her East Main Street home Friday evening aged 68 from complications of discs after a yearlong illness. She was the daughter of the late Ferdinand D Rickert of Rickert and Trepp Academy and Emeline Wolfe Rickert. Belgian relief drive boosts Lititz clothing donations
Lititz and surrounding community answered a Belgians relief appeal with remarkable generosity. Through the Young Men's Business League and Red Cross, almost three auto loads of clothing and 81 dollars in cash were collected, packed, and sent to Lancaster for shipment, with thanks extended to organizers and helpers. A new drive continues for hospital supplies, asking for towels hand towels handkerchiefs napkins unbleached muslin fabric and similar items in good condition rather than purchases.

Three Aeroplanes Bomb Lititz for Liberty Loan Parade
Lititz saw three large aeroplanes fly over town on a publicity visit for the Fourth Liberty Loan. A large meeting in the G A H hall organized a Sons of Veterans camp for Lititz named Captain John R. Bricker Camp. Officers elected include Commander Martin Bisker and others. The camp organized with 60 members and plans a gala induction luncheon and weekly meetings. Memorial day observance is pledged by the new camp.
