Lititz Woman's Brother Fatally Wounded in Dance Ball Fight
Francis E. Bettner, 17, of Hanover, brother of Mrs. W Martin Muth of Lititz, was fatally wounded in a street quarrel after an American Legion dance in Hanover. Charles Wilkinson, 27, of Fayetteville, fired from an auto at the surrounding crowd, killing Bettner with a head wound. Wilkinson was arrested, confessed, and will be charged with murder. Frank Miller shot a white albino squirrel at Furnace Hills for display in The Specialty Shop.

Real Estate Man to Open Office in Cedar Street Area

Received yams from Virginia. George Leicey of Brownstown got 3 barrels from Wayne Carpenter at Waverly, Va. Several Lititz residents also received them. The yam is likened to sweet potato and loved in the south. Northern folks know little about them. Local testers say they are sweeter and less solid than sweet potatoes. Miss Leila Burkholder of Lancaster, Carpenter’s niece, receives from a half to a car of yams each season for disposal at Lancaster.

Friends Husked Hess Corn On Eighth Acre Farm
Forty seven able bodied men gathered at C R Hess east of town on Tuesday and husked his eight acres of corn and stored it in the crib. Hess fell behind schedule due to his wife s illness since March. Quick work was made with husking as friends from Joy Clay and nearby neighbors aided.

Rothsville School House Nearing Completion
The two story addition to the Rothsville school house will be ready for occupancy within a month. Built of brick the 70 by 60 foot structure includes a basement to be used as a gymnasium. The present quarters are overcrowded and the addition was started in the summer.

Moravian Ushers Begin Fall Meeting With 35 In Attendance
The Moravian Ushers met the Moravian Usher's Association held their first fall meeting on Thursday evening with 35 in attendance. Spirited talks were given and a fine luncheon served. The December gathering will be a Father and Son meeting.
Death of Rev. Issac Walton Bobst Former Lititz pastor
The Rev. Issac Walton Bobst long served as pastor of St. Pauls Lutheran Lititz for thirteen years and died November 14 at his Philadelphia home aged 77. A Civil War veteran, he later studied theology at Gettysburg and served six charges over forty five years in Harpers Ferry Lititz Trenton and Philadelphia. He was named pastor emeritus after resigning due to ill health and was buried in West Laurel Cemetery following services in Philadelphia.

Home raised turkeys fetch about 50 cents a pound live weight and are prized for quality over shipped birds. In Lancaster County the number of turkeys raised is declining due to inbreeding and blackhead disease.
