Elizabeth K Kemper Souders wife of Monroe M Souders of Lititz died at home on West Main Street Tuesday night from uremic poisoning aged 58. She taught music in Linden Hall Seminary Booths Hall and Lititz schools and was active in the United Evangelical church and WCTU. Survived by husband son Ernest of Pittsburgh daughter Mary and brother Jacob Kemper. Funeral at home Saturday then Trinity United Evangelical church with interment in Union Evangelical Cemetery. William Smith a Civil War veteran died Wednesday morning at 3 o clock at his home on Orange street after seven days of illness from pneumonia He was born in Schaefferstown Lebanon county learned the mason trade and lived in Kissel Hill before moving to Lititz He married in 1860 to Ja Helman who died ten years ago He joined the army at age 2 as a member of Co H 21st Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry He belonged to the Evangelical church Surviving are eight children 28 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 pm at the house with interment in Evangelical cemetery The Rev G W Smiboden and Rev F A Weicksel will officiate The G A R post and Patriotic Sons of America will be in charge.

Ground Broken for Residences on Broad Street
Ground was broken this week for a bungalow with a stucco exterior to be built by Rev H R Gibbel on Broad street south of William Reigel’s home. Noah Myers began excavating for two dwellings on South Broad street just outside the borough, and a trench is being dug to lay a town water pipe. Last season wood-burning stoves were in high demand and this season demand is even greater as coal is scarce and expensive. Timber owners save by burning wood, sawmills stay busy, and portable saw owners in heavy sailing trade also report strong business.

Sprinkler System Given Final Test At Hackman and Harmley
The automatic sprinkler system at Hackman and Harmley’s plant passed its final test last week with Insurance Company members present. Installed by I Tannen Baum & Sons Insurance Brokers New York City the system reacts automatically at 155 degrees interiorly while exterior sprinklers are cellar controlled to guard against neighboring fires. David Spickler Struck by Flying Shot Near Tillman Stauffer Farm
