Lifesaving on the Cocalico Bridge by Lewis Haines
Lewis Haines saved ten year old Irvin Hatt from drowning in the Cocalico creek near Ephrata. After the boy fell from the wooden guard rails into eight feet of water, Haines used a fence rail to reach and pull him free. Irvin sank twice before grasping the improvised aid and surviving.

Foresters of America Lititz Court No. 296 hosted a parade through Lititz with about 150 uniformed members from Mt. Joy Columbia Lancaster Reliance Ephrata and Lititz Courts. Twenty nine new members were initiated at Rudy building as Grand Treasurer Seymour of Philadelphia praised the order’s growth and health. Luncheon served to about 250 attendees. The next boom session is set for Ephrata on Wednesday November 22 with other courts present.
