Lancaster County birth rate to dip in 1932 due to business ills

Lancaster County officials in the Bureau of Vital Statistics project fewer births in 1932 than 1931, with economic conditions partly driving the decline. In 1931 there were 1 443 births and 901 deaths, though the birth rate still exceeds the death rate. Other items note a Standard Oil pipeline fire destroying 100 barrels near Murrell, a legal ruling over Akron Eighth street, Watt & Shand store closing after 41 years, and a Lancaster County rabbit farm project by the Sportsman's Association to stock 500 rabbits per year with 38 000 feet of fencing planned.
