Ground limestone demonstration at local farm opens season
A Tarvin Lime Pulverizer demo was held Friday on Albert Shenk’s farm. Crowd small due to rain and work, but attendees showed interest in pulverizing limestone. One farmer produced 30 tons at $1.50 per ton for fuel and labor, while a neighbor paid $12 per ton for hydrated lime. A comparison suggests significant cost savings with homemade ground limestone. Commencement week at Elizabeth town College featured sermons, music recitals, and addresses, culminating in bachelor’s degrees for several local students. A birthday party for Mrs. Moses Eckert drew 30 guests, with family, friends, and refreshments.
