The Lititz Union Sunday Schools picnic is scheduled for Thursday August 14. Nearby events include mail delivery changes on Saturdays until Sept 18 and local notes on hospital visits, graduates touring Washington, early strawberries, and a variety of community happenings around Lititz and area.
At the Warwick House Sale held Saturday a total of 862 sales occurred. Fifty seven sows fetched up to 101 and 102 dollars. Other items included 93 pigs, 28 rabbits at 25 to 80 cents, 172 bushels of potatoes, five to six dollars worth of ale, 180 pairs of stockings, 20 pairs hose, 120 to 145 dollars for 20 rings, 82 yards carpet at 96 cents, 22 brooms from 40 to 68 cents, a rocker at 2 dollars 25 cents, wagons from 2 dollars 50 cents to 9 dollars 25 cents, and 1,000 cigars at 2 dollars 20 cents per hundred.
Promoters and stockholders face slim returns as forty Keystone oil stations, including four in Lancaster county, are sold in bulk for about $1000 to Armstrong representing an oil company. Liens will be paid from sale proceeds. any surplus beyond liens goes to stockholders and banks.
The G A R returns thanks to Stevens Post public school and individuals who assisted in the Decoration exercises, calling the events a complete success.

Paul W. Miller son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Miller of Lititz married Miss Marie Harriet Berkstresser daughter of Mr and Mrs E O Berkstresser of York last Saturday at the First Methodist Episcopal parsonage. Rev B H Hark conducted the ceremony. Attendants were Grace Berkstresser and Margie Miller. A pink and white reception followed. The couple will live with the bride's parents then move to Los Angeles. Miller served in the U S Navy overseas in World War I.
The Linden Hall Seminary commencement week began with a Moravian church sermon by Rev. E. S. Crosland on trapping the sunshine from 2 Sam. 22:29. The program featured processional music, readings, hymns, and a class roll of seventeen, with graduates in various courses and campus activities including Class Day events and a performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Lititz to play two away baseball games Quarryville and Brownstown with Diehm and Shoemaker out. Amos Shrome named postmaster after Calvin Becine resignation following exam.
A drop in sugar to about 7 cents a pound lowers costs for Lititz households and spurs canning. Grocers report a 3 to 31 percent decline from earlier quotes, with dealers attributing the cut to surplus. Anxious for the season, they anticipate a price rise as canning ramps up, though weather delays push the season one to two weeks. Strawberries, usually bright in early June, will arrive later than normal due to abnormal weather.
