A Bethel church choir from Lancaster led by A 1 Polite performed at Lutz’s last Thursday evening. The Lutz meat market room was full and many listened outside. The program ranged from classical choir selections to folk songs and old time hymns. The male quartet was a fine treat. Applause and the collection were liberal. B F Lutz, who arranged the engagement, says they will return this summer for an outdoor concert.

York School Teacher Drowns While Swimming at Susquehanna
Edward B. Spyker a 21 year old teacher from Lower Winds or township drowned after cramps struck while swimming with Ernest Garner five miles below Wrightsville in the Susquehanna river. Ralph Hivner rescued his body after Garner called for help. Spyker died after first aid failed. Funeral held at Red Lion with Windsor United Brethren services and burial at Canodochly cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Beckler attended the funeral of Miss Mary Lenher at Mechanicsburg Cumberland county on Monday. Man Hurt By Falling Concrete
Mr. Simon Bradley of Elm area suffered severe injuries when a large concrete piece broke from an old foundation and pinned him during cellar enlargement work. Lititz Union Picnic Set for July 21 at Spring Grounds
The Lititz Union Picnic brings five town churches together for an all day event at Spring Grounds starting 9 AM. The Lititz band performs from morning to 8 PM with field events in the morning and children’s games in the afternoon. Supper at 5 PM includes free coffee and a closing devotion at 6 PM followed by a parade and pantomimes while the Lititz ball team plays a strong afternoon opponent.
