Fire at Hershey plant destroys over half a million in chocolate
A Sunday blaze on the fourth floor of Building 25 at the Hershey Chocolate Company plant in Hershey Dauphin County caused losses exceeding $500,000. More than 1,000,000 pounds of powder chocolate in manufacture was ruined, with water and smoke damage to other stock. The steel concrete fire proof building limited the fire to the origin floor, thought due to spontaneous combustion. A separate ad notes an extra 5 percent discount on clothing or shoes at Lititz Clothing and Shoe Store, 17 South Broad Street.
