They authorized notifying the Lititz and Rothsville Turnpike Company to repair East Main Street nuisance after months of ignored instructions. The meeting also authorized macadamizing Gedar Street, purchasing cement, and redeeming ten more water bonds. The Lititz and Rothsville street railway ordinance passed on third reading. Funeral held Thursday at Hammeyv Creek Meeting House with interment there.

Manheim Child Dies of Tetanus After Vaccination
Harold Brock aged six, son of Mrs. William F. Kuhn, died at his Manheim home from tetanus. He had been vaccinated Aug 5 by Dr Beamesderfer. Illness followed a sore arm possibly irritated by a ball strike. He was active in St Pauls Reformed Sunday School and church events. his father Harry Brock had died years earlier.

Ex sheriff and longtime Lancaster official David K Burkholder died Wednesday evening at the Brethren's Home near Neffsville at age 77. A Republican, he served as sheriff, legislator, and city council member before leaving public life and later ran a race horse venture near Quarryville. Gunning season opens for doves and other wildlife
The lawful season for shooting black birds doves shorebirds snipe and web-footed wild waterfowl as well as raccoons opens tomorrow September 1. With favorable weather conditions local nimrods are expected in large numbers tomorrow and Saturday in search of doves which are reportedly not very plentiful.
Borough Water Works Bonds Redeemed In Full
At the borough council meeting this month ten more water bonds were ordered redeemed. Since the 1906 purchase of the water works the issuance of 88 bonds of 206 denomination has been repaid, with 83 bonds paid off and 110 bonds remaining, totaling 22,600 dollars.
Saddlery Change Hands on S Broad Street
C and Light bought the saddlery on S Broad street from J M Miller Co and took possession Saturday. J K Carper, the long time saddler, joined Linden Hall Seminary as a clerk this week. Mr Light hired E F DeArman of Lancaster as the new saddler and will keep the drayage business. Orders to W H Muth Co remain promptly attended.

Akon worker’s suspenders stop rifle bullet impact
Ed Eshleman of Akron employed by the Independent Telephone Company narrowly escaped a rifle shot on West Orange street when a 22 caliber bullet lodged in his suspender left breast but was stopped by the double fabric.
