Local notes report a new cigar factory likely to start in Lititz soon. Other items include executrix grant to Mrs Ella R Evans, a baby girl born to Mr and Mrs Isaac Plante, and a Austere social calendar with picnics and concerts by the American Legion Band and Zem Zem order events.

Loysville Band Delights Large Audience

The Boy Band of the Tressler Orphans' Home at Loysville Perry county gave a delightful concert in the Spring Grounds on Tuesday evening. About 200 people attended. a saxophone solo impressed many. The ensemble, all under seventeen, played well. A $300 collection was raised for the home. Photos of the band and moving pictures of the home and its work were shown.

Late President Lifts Lititz Native Boy at Fairbanks

The late President Warren G. Harding lifts a three-year-old Lititz native to his arms in Fairbanks Alaska, calling him a Pennsylvania Dutchman before greeting the boy’s parents Mr. and Mrs. O’Brien Miller. Lititz residents attended the president’s funeral. Paul Musselman and Paul Harperry, former Lititz residents, traveled from Chicago to view the body. A Lititz agency reports several farm and property sales in the area. Also noted are local anglers’ success on the river with bass, salmon, and catfish catches posted after a Saturday outing.

Mysterious Boy Was a Woman Near Brunnerville

A strange tale emerges from Brunnerville as a tenant disappearance links to three women masquerading as a boy. The individual known as William DeLane or Billie lived with alleged parents, signed farm sales, and appeared as an 18 year old male before her gender reveal.

Big group of Kishermen enjoy Susquehanna outing

Lititz residents spent a weekend along the Susquehanna near Conewingo. Emory Wagner led bass catches with seventeen fish while George Evans landed four. The party totaled 14 bass and other fish. Red Shoemaker provided abundant food for the crowd. A large steer went rogue from Clayton Rudy’s cattle trade, roaming Lititz area until shot by Dr. D A Long in a Muth farm cornfield, ending its escape and damaging tobacco fields.

A Lititz area farmer, Phares Nolt, relocates to Berks County where he buys 150 acres and grows Irish cobbler potatoes. He harvests 32 acres this year, delivers to Reading, earning 3 dollars and 2 25 per bushel. Rainfalls along the mountains aid crops as he expands to corn and poultry, while neighbors visit his stand.

Keath Planing Mill Picnic At Travenger's Meadow

Keath Planing Mill employees and families held a full day picnic at Travenger's meadow near Brownstown. Ice cream and lemonade served for meals. activities included pole vaulting races tug of war blind feeding contest football drive and baseball game. Transport by White three and a half ton truck and George Manger's smaller truck carried attendees and provisions.

Ispent Evening With Jacob Funk Near Lebanon

The Zinzendorf Brotherhood of the Moravian church visited Mr. Jacob Funk at his camp three miles south of Lebanon, with about twenty five men arriving from Lititz for a prayer meeting and a talk by Funk. They were served refreshments and planned a similar trip next year. Funk, a jeweler in Lebanon, spends five months of the year at the camp and has had it six years with a small woods park and conveniences.

Behemers Airplane Damaged by Curious Horses in Bellefonte

Aviator Ralph Haines and party arrived in Bellefonte from Lewistown in a L. W. F. plane. At night the horses of Hon. Thomas Beaver damaged the linen covering by chewing the stabilizer and elevator, making two wing holes. Akers, the night watchman, found the plane stranded and the crew had to stay in Bellefonte while repairs were completed.

Warren G. Harding Eulogized at Outdoor Service

An outdoor service in the Springs Totel yard honored Warren G. Harding with 1500 attendees from local factories. Rev. Sammel delivered the keynote address, a biographical sketch was read, songs led by H. M. Reedy, and prayers by several ministers. The event featured a black-draped bandstand and a large portrait of Harding.

Joe Bollinger Estate Sale Nets 154 At Public Auction

Two barns filled with junk from over twenty five years of penny purchases at public sales brought in 154 dollars for the estate of Joseph Bollinger. The top price paid was 22 dollars for an old desk. Buyers purchased all items in bulk lots from four bidders, with seventy five harnesses and nine bedsteads among the miscellaneous articles and several old wagons.

Lititz Barber Rescued From Lake Drowning at Mt Gretna

Louis Oehme of Lititz nearly drowned while bathing in Mt Gretna lake Sunday. He became exhausted and swallowed water before two strangers reached him and towed him to shallow water. He felt ill but recovered quickly after assistance.
