Landisville Man Run Over by Tractor at Landis Valley
Rob Binkley of Landisville was run over by a tractor while working at his father A. E. Binkley’s stone quarry at Landis Valley last Friday. Several ribs were fractured and a lung punctured. He was taken to a Lancaster hospital where he remains confined.

Wissler Trip From Lititz To Watertown New York
Mr and Mrs J B Wissler and child Dickey Lititz and Mr and Mrs Jacob Wissler and child James left by auto Friday to visit the former’s wife's parents at Watertown New York and then to Clayton for ten days. Red Hot Wednesday brought a 99 degree shade reading the hottest of the Lititz summer as men walked coatless with sleeves rolled up and even bald heads exposed while a light rain fell but did little to ease the heat.

Lutheran Ushers Enjoy Summer Outing at Conestoga Bank
One hundred sixty members and friends of the Ushers Association of the Lutheran Church attended a Thursday picnic on July 31 at Snavely’s Bungalow along the Conestoga. They traveled by machine, played games in the afternoon, enjoyed a social meal, and concluded with a short service led by Rev. Sammel and other ministers, closing with a hymn.

Fishers Land Big Susquehanna Catch in Maryland
Augustus Stiffel Charles Brobst and Joseph Driefus fished three days last week on the Susquehanna in Cecil and Hereford counties Maryland landing three large fish and thirty bass. The rock fish weighed 22 14 pounds 13 7 pounds each. River eels a foot long served as bait. The largest fought for half an hour before landing net. One fish tore the line before capture. The catch was brought to Lititz where many saw it and hailed as a record meg of local anglers. Potatoes sell on street at 1 25 per bushel amid reports of a big national crop. Charles Rosenberg and son sampled sorted potatoes fetching 1 25 to 1 50 per barrel with throw-outs left to rot. Grange picnic guests from area included Lester and Benjamin Miller families Wesley Berkheimer Hess Stauffer Levan Bruckart and Cassel and their spouses and children.

Child Falls Into Park Water at Springs Picnic
During the Lancaster County Malta picnic last week a young boy fell into the water at Springs Park. One bystander acted quickly to rescue him before any clothes were removed, and a Lititz family lent a pair of trousers while his own were dried and pressed.

Crowd of 5 000 Attracts Allentown Ladies Band
The Allentown Ladies Band drew about 5000 Saturday evening, with a thousand autos along the street. Merchants reported strong business, and crowds compared favorably with Brownstown carnival fireworks.
