Harry Kepple, Lititz band leader, tames a sparrow hawk rescued two years ago from a river hill. The bird, once injured, now roosts near his home, appears at dusk, eats meat from hands, and perches on his shoulder when called. The hawk roams to Spring Grounds for a mate and has become a one man bird. Roy Geltz of Lititz buys a Kanuck two passenger plane to fly this summer using a ninety horsepower Curtis engine.

The State Primary is Tuesday April 22 with county races for a committeeman and committeewoman. Harrisburg contests include a congressman two state senators and four representatives. Trout Season Opened Tuesday in Lititz Area
On opening day seven anglers reported the best catch by Firlow with seven fish. Others took four or fewer as waters ran high. The Furnace Hills north of town are favored by locals. Officials warn that fishing licenses are required for Pennsylvania streams this year with fines for unlicensed fishing. The law currently requires 18 or older to hold a license, though Commissioner Buller advocates reducing the minimum age to 16.

A surprise party honored Mrs. George Sheneberger of Lititz on Sunday for her 54th birthday. Guests from New Holland Ephrata Neffsville and nearby areas attended with families, presenting fifty four carnat ions and posing for a group photo. Local stores will have Good Friday hours and summer Thursday half holidays were decided with first May 1 and continuing through October 1. Additional dates noted include Ascension Day May 29 Memorial Day May 20 Independence Day July 4 and Thanksgiving November 27 along with Christmas December 25. High School events in June were scheduled with commencement and class day exercises and a baccalaureate sermon on June 4.
