Neffsville fire wipes out eight barns and shop
A Saturday afternoon blaze near Neffsville destroyed eight barns and a butcher shop owned by Ernest Hess and neighbors. Fire departments from seven cities battled the five hour fire, with considerable property damage and road closures. Local residents and visitors crowded the ruins Sunday as crews refilled cisterns and aided firefighters. The final forum of the Lancaster Chapter of the American Institute of Banking was scheduled to follow.
