New York reports Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy perform Carry Me Back to Old Virginny as a screen duet in M G M's Maytime. Wiley Padan notes it is the first time two trained singers use the song as a film duet.
About 40 men attended the shad supper of the Ushers' Association of the Moravian Church in the Sunday School basement Monday evening. It was the group’s final meeting before becoming the Zinzendorf Brotherhood. Officers were elected, followed by a social hour and games.
William Fasnacht was elected president, Paul Bomberger vice president, Carl Workman secretary, and Samuel Nuss treasurer, outlining the leadership slate for the organization.
An audience near 500 heard the Acappella Male Chorus of E. Petersburg Sunday afternoon in Moravian Sunday School Chapel. The patron list added names including Elizabeth Heitler, W. W. Gibbes, Carl Stubbs, Mary E. Sturgis, Margie Rader, and others.
Warren Diehm of B-G Shoe Co. visited New York yesterday while Richard Weaver Dillon Putt Howard Good James Yerger and Robert Hackman spent Sunday in Washington D C. The Leed family visited Grant Gardner at Conestoga Centre on Sunday and Mr and Mrs Warren Diehm entertained at their new Country Club Heights home. Mr and Mrs Guy L Calvert Donald Sherbondy and LeRoy Pfantz joined Mr and Mrs Weichsel near Kirkwood for a Sunday afternoon gathering.
Mr and Mrs Wm Frymyer and daughter Helen and granddaughter Joyce of Talmage called on Mr and Mrs Ammon Weidman. Sunday Mr and Mrs Walter Keith of Greentown spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs Elmer Getz on New Street. Mr and Mrs James Enck of Locust St were Sunday supper guests at Arie Stoltzfus in Lancaster. Mrs Sarah K Jenkins returned home after a week at her cottage in Caledonia.
