Rev. E. 8. Crosland will celebrate his birthday next Monday. Miss Olga Beckler added another year to her life last Thursday. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Kreider this week. The regular meeting of the local American Legion Post will be held this evening.
The Lilite High School baseball Lancaster County Farm Sales Agen team will play F M Academy at Lancaster on Saturday. M M Garman sold numerous properties including farms in Penn township Upper Leacock and East Lampeter to listed buyers, with Gerry Zimmerman planning poultry work and other buyers taking homes and farms throughout Lancaster area.
A youth named John Morrison was badly cut when an auto struck a trolley at Kissel Hill. The boy’s head was pushed through the windshield, a car tip was damaged, and he received treatment at Claude Miller’s home before being taken to his Lancaster residence. His father Winifred Morrison and brother were in the auto.
M. W. Shenk of R. D. 5 renewed his subscription at the Record Office. He began receiving the paper in 1888 and has never missed a copy, with the publisher and post office praised for efficiency. He resides in Berks county.
The La Camaraderie Club formed recently has rented space on the second floor of the former H. Reist Landis building. It lists thirteen members including Violet Helter, Betty Krumbine, Ma Bell Steffy, Thelma Pfautz, and Mary Longenecker. Officers are President Mary Longenecker, Vice President Mabelle Steffy, Secretary Alma Brookmyer, and Treasurer Violet Helter.
The Moravian church interior, under a painter, will be finished in time for Easter. Walls and ceiling are ivory and white. The decorator said the simple spacious design highlights a beautiful color effect. The entire interior and Sunday School chapel were refreshed with new color and cleaned carpets.
A rumor suggests a local hotel will soon have a change of proprietors. In other news a used piano priced at $85.00 is advertised by Howard Young.
At a very young age Charles Kissinger, owner of a seven room cement block house on North Water street, built much of the home with his own earnings. Iris Kissinger and her parents plan to move in this week. He dug the cellar and did carpentry while a limestone wall and embankment were added to protect from flood waters. The property includes an planned terraced yard, flower beds, and a small orchard on the large lot.
Administrators of Elmer G. Hershey deceased sold properties at Rome yesterday a two and a half story concrete block dwelling and garage for 4925 to Walter Eshleman Manheim RD 18 acres with a stone quarry stone crusher and machinery for 16100 to Phares Rohrer Lancaster Junction The sale listed includes the quarry and related equipment.
Telephone poles from Lititz to Lancaster carry a blue keystone and Route 98 marking. The borough road stretch will move under State supervision, bringing large savings on street repairs. Work on repairing the entire road will begin shortly.
The Society of Farm Women No. 1 held a Saturday meeting with 25 members present. Mrs. Charles Forney presided in place of M W Hess quarantined for mumps. Readings, solos, and a July 30 annual meeting were announced. Refreshments followed.
Public sale season nears end as farmers settle in for another year of work. Horses averaged prices while mules hit four hundred dollars per pair. Pigs and cows showed strong demand with cows selling high and pigs at war prices. Farm machinery sold at ordinary prices.
Wayne L Longenecker recalls China ports during his Navy years noting river city boats crowded with coal hauling women laborers, barefoot craftsmanship, social roles for women, harsh penalties, Shanghai walls, and public bathhouses. He warns Westerners misread Far East tensions and the China trouble.
After a long winter rural women rush to season their gardens. They have tomato, cabbage, beet and pepper plants ready to transplant and seek guidance on best steps. News of robins sighting brings renewed hope for warmer days.
Lititz to join Boy's Week across many cities with a three day program for boys. Originated in 1920 by the Rotary Club of New York City and expanded to 2 000 towns worldwide by 1926. The event aims to elevate public regard for boys and foster character and citizenship without fundraising or holidays.
The Reading Railroad announces numerous summer one day Sunday and longer excursions from Lancaster. Trips include New York Up the Hudson on June 12 and Oct 12, Atlantic City on July 24 and Aug 21, Willow Grove on the same dates, and weekly 16 day excursions to Atlantic City Ocean City Wildwood Stone Harbor or Cape May from Lancaster for 6.84 dollars. Also 16 day runs to Niagara Falls every Saturday in July and August. Short tours to Washington for high school seniors and eight day trips to the Thousand Islands Niagara Falls Quebec Montreal Lakes Champlain George Hudson and a five day Boston trip and a Florida Cuba tour are listed.

Walter H. Buch promotes nattie clothes for men on page two of this week’s Record. The notice highlights a Record cut service that offers useful advertisement illustrations at the office with no extra charge.
A family surprise marked Mrs. Emeline Eshleman’s eightieth birthday in Lititz with eighty carnations and dozens of friends and relatives. Eighty guests joined the celebration at East Main Street after her long life near Rothsville, with homemade ice cream and cakes among the refreshments.
Local coal dealers announce a general price drop with reductions of 1.00 per ton on hard and medium nut and Lykens nut and 0.75 on stove and medium stove. Eggs drop 1.00 per ton. Yard quotes show hard and medium pea 10 per ton, nut and egg 12, stove 12.75, Lykens Valley stove 13.75, Lykens Valley nut 13. Delivery in town 50 cents per ton.
Post 56 American Legion marks the tenth anniversary of U.S. entry into World War I with a garage meeting in Valentine Brobst's home. Attendees include Legion members, their wives, Auxiliary, G A R and Spanish American War veterans. Adjutant Frank Hunter gives welcome. Rev Swartz delivers main address. Norman Habecker leads singing. Music by a high school orchestra. Performances by Mrs Norman Brubaker, Miss Brookmyer, and Carl Foltz. Event ends with games and refreshments.
Amicus Club met at the home of Mrs. Paul Zug on Tuesday with members Miss Amelia Wagner Miss Nina Grosh Miss Irene Erb Mrs Edward Grosh Mrs Victor Wagner and Miss Mary Sturgis present Refreshments were served The next meeting will be held at the home of Miss Irene Erb Also note a Down Home Coffee. Seaman Leed's store advertises 37 cents per pound.
Mrs. Kenneth Witmyer spent Friday and Saturday in Philadelphia. Miss Evelyn Dennis and Miss Mildred Cross of Lancaster visited Philadelphia. Several locals hosted visitors from Atlantic City to Virginia. Rev. Ira Funk and Rev. J B Funk called on Lititz friends. Judge James Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy visited as Springs Hotel guests. A variety of local residents hosted relatives and friends from New York, Reading, Swarthmore, and other places during weekends and holidays. The Harrisburg legislative session saw bills rushed through and the election laws bill killed in the House.
James M. Beck is likely to address a public gathering here under the local Legion Post. He previously spoke at Linden Hall on several occasions, according to a telephone conversation yesterday.
The Wide-Awake Sunday School Class of St. Paul’s Lutheran met at Miss Margaret Dussinger’s Spruce Street home Tuesday evening. Alvin Ludwig becomes the new tenant farmer on B. F. Grosh’s Rome farm, succeeding Harry Leopole who moved near Penryn.
Myers sues Abraham B. Eshleman near Lincoln in Lancaster County Courts for 3700 dollars claiming contract violation and other damages. Chain letters are circulating by mail and the post office department disapproves.
