Everett Shields of Bloomfield Route One is appointed to the Greene County Alcoholic Beverages Board succeeding the late John Byers of Linton who died recently. The Greene County Council made the appointment.
Otto H. Mullins 61 a retired coal miner died at 3 00 am at his home 721 Railroad Street Jasonville after a month long illness He was born Oct 10 1888 in Clay county and lived most of his life in Jasonville He survived by his widow a daughter two grandchildren and three brothers Funeral services Sunday at 2 00 pm at McClanahan Funeral Home with Rev Noah Beadle and Rev Co E Baker officiating burial in Oak Hill Cemetery Riley

Two Kokomo men Frank Williams and Martin Rubow were captured with a third, Jack Wood, after a Westfield restaurant robbery and a sailor kidnapping. Williams and Rubow face preliminary armed robbery kidnapping and auto theft charges. The Shamrock Inn waitress Inez Brunson was robbed of 31.60. The escape car, a stolen vehicle, was abandoned near the restaurant following a police blockade triggered by Hamilton County and Westfield authorities.
William R. Huber of Linton route is among 337 seniors and graduates at the University of Michigan initiated into Phi Kappa Phi. The initiation was held Thursday in Rackham Lecture Hall with George B. Harrison, English professor, speaking on The Study of Literature.
Sullivan Indiana May 26 Judge George W Long third special judge to sit in the Harris case set 100 p m June 16 for the arraignment of Judge Norval K Harris on three counts forgery embezzlement and issuing a fraudulent check In a hearing yesterday three felony charges were cleared in maneuverings and the judge ordered arraignment on all three. The hearing drew two witnesses John Knox Purcell and Earl A Engle with rulings in favor of the state on embezzlement and forgery. Harris attended but did not enter the courtroom with defense attorneys Paul Haywood and Hunter J Von Leer present.
Danetta Kay Rice, age 4, of Sullivan, is in critical condition at Mary Sherman Hospital after being struck by a car while crossing U S Highway 41 Sunday. She sustains a fractured skull and both legs broken below the knee and has not regained consciousness.

Lt Bascom B Boaz confessed to pilfering a 19000 navy payroll from the Navasota paymaster job and using the funds for drinking and gambling with Pearl Rosemary Carter in Long Beach and Pomona California. FBI and naval agents arrested him with only 7 dollars on hand. The brunette was cleared of involvement.
