A night blaze in Frankfort Indiana destroyed the Frankfort Ice and Coal company plant causing a $200000 loss with $175000 insured. One man, Frank Wallace the night watchman, was seriously injured while rescuing horses as a tramp dog raised the alarm. The fire also damaged a poultry junk house and residential areas, with stockholders linked to local mines. A human-interest note explains a bank account established for the dog.

State guard troops are on the scene and federal troops from Fort Sheridan may be sent with President Harding expected to consent.
Carpenters End Strike With Arbitration Agreement
In Terre Haute on May 20, carpenters and the Associated Building Contractors agreed to arbitrate wage differences for the coming year. Workers will return to the job at $1.00 an hour as the arbitration panel from both sides prepares a new scale within a week. The walkout began May 1 over a 10 cent raise, with independents also adopting the higher rate.
