Wild West scare thrills Linton streets today
A runaway team driven by Delmar Bland of Linton spooked through Main Street and left a path of minor damage. A mystery passerby halted the wagon near the Cine theater by grabbing the reins and steering the horses toward safety. Police did not learn the rescuer’s name.

The Solsberry high school graduating class toured the U S Naval Ammunition Depot Crane as part of a program for youth to see naval activity. Principal Nova Boys accompanied the group with guides meeting at the Bloomington gate for an administration build tour and a commemorative photograph of the day.

A four room house occupied by Mrs. Flem Goodman and owned by Isom Smith six miles southwest of Linton burned after a morning blaze discovered at 5 15. Pleasantville and Linton fire departments prevented spread to adjacent outbuildings. Some clothing and furniture saved. insurance coverage noted.

Arthur McCain Dies At Worthington
Arthur G. McCain 80 of Worthington a former proprietor of Worthington Grain died at 2:40 p.m. Friday in Freeman-Greene county hospital after six months of declining health and a week of serious illness. Born May 8, 1869 near Bedford he had lived in Worthington many years and earlier worked as a telegraph operator. He was a member of the Worthington Christian church and the Worthington Masonic lodge. He married Cathryn Howe February 16 1898 she died November 7 1945. He is survived by nephews J A Myers James S Bradley of Chicago and Mrs O C Beyers of Bedford. His body was taken to Indianapolis for cremation and will be returned to Worthington Tuesday for double funeral services with Mrs McCain Thursday at 2 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home Worthington officiated by Rev L H Graham.
