James M. Axton Dies Retired Insurance Leader

Linton community mourns the death of James M. Axton a 65 year old former Prudential leader who died at his home at 389 First Street S E after a sudden illness Friday night He retired last July after thirty years with the company and had lived in Linton twenty four years He was active in civic groups including the Greater Linton club Rotary Boy Scouts Red Cross and Masons Funeral services are set for Monday at the First Christian church with Masonic rites at Fairview cemetery Surviving are his wife Ada two children William J. Axton and Ethel M. Axton three brothers and three sisters.

Brig Gen Henry H Denhardt escaped unhurt in an automobile accident and returned home awaiting a second murder trial for his fiancee Mrs Verna Garr Taylor. Democrats Plan Meeting in Greene County

Democratic women of Stockton township concluded plans to attend a Greene county organization meeting next Wednesday at Mareo. Officers elected include Mrs. Gilbert Sims president Mrs. Audrey O'Brien vice president Mrs. Chas Page treasurer Thelma Bemis secretary. Charles Foster 10 Give Program At First Christian Church

Residents of Linton and nearby areas are invited to a 8 o'clock Tuesday concert at the First Christian church auditorium by Charles Foster a Linton High School student and state fluegel horn champion. He will play selections that earned him national contest eligibility to be held May 13-15 in Columbus Ohio accompanied at the piano by Miss Betty Jane Brewer. A free will offering will be taken to cover travel costs for Foster and his accompanist as they pursue national honors.

Apiary Inspection Slated In Linton and Greene County

Inspectors from the division of entomology will begin inspections of bee colonies in Linton and Greene County to detect foul brood and other diseases. Inspector H. G. Hobson arrives Monday to start work, moving north when bees become more active. Indiana law authorizes examination of apiaries and destruction of diseased hives. The program is supported by the Indiana Beekeepers Association to boost honey production and profitability.
