Virgil E. Duncan 69 a lifelong Linton resident known as Butch died at Freeman Greene County hospital after nine weeks of illness. He worked in coal mines then as a meat cutter and was last with Harley Miller. Survived by widow Mary E. Duncan four children two sisters seven grandchildren and one sister in Boise. Funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Duncan home with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Flood warnings issued for lower Wabash and White rivers
The U S Weather Bureau issued moderate flood warnings for the lower Wabash and White rivers in Indiana after heavy weekend rains. Meteorologist J H Armington said levels may rise one to two feet above flood stage but avoid serious damage unless more rain falls. The Wabash is expected to crest above flood stage south of Terre Haute from Vincennes to the Ohio River mouth near Evansville.
