State police and Knox county officers reported a four door Buick owned by Marshall Micon was found abandoned in No. 5 woods southwest of Linton. The car had been stolen Friday night from in front of the Cleveland building in Bicknell and one tire was missing. This followed a string of similar thefts last summer.

First Big Un Is Landed Here in 1939
Harry Bargar, a local post office employee, claimed the 1939 fishing crown after landing a giant four pound twelve ounce large mouth bass from a strip pond south of Linton. Using a river run artificial bait, he landed the whopper Sunday afternoon. Saturday he hooked three smaller bass and the giant was weighed on Murray official scales setting a new standard for area fishermen to shoot at.
