Sun Company starts new oil test on Shonk farm drilling unit
The Sun Oil company begins another test well user on the Paul Shonk farm 1300 feet southeast of the Lloyd Richardson site. Richardson's well produced gas but water flooded it, ending gas production. Officials expect gas at the new Shank Clayton Unit No. 1 within about two weeks, with cementing and deeper drilling planned.

Three people died and four were injured in Indiana weekend traffic crashes. Ray D. Jones, 32, of Mishawaka, died Sunday on U S 20 near South Bend. An accident injured James Dowdy, 29, and Thomas Adams, 29, both of Mishawaka, along with Phyllis Van Hoosear, 21, and Lindsey Whitt, 38, of South Bend. In Lafayette, Mrs Anna Winn, 62, died after a car struck a pole on Ind 43 and Charles Foley, 68, was killed when struck at a Lafayette street intersection.

Mrs. Margaret Risher, 60, longtime Linton resident, died at 9 45 p m Sunday at her 410 FE street NE home after illness since December 24 1947. Born July 21 1887 in Vincennes she was the daughter of John and Dora Pennington. Two Arrests After Greene County Accidents
Two arrests were made after minor crashes in Greene County. At Switz City a car driven by Charles E. McKlveen collided with a pickup driven by Norval Ocker man. McKlveen and his family aboard were uninjured but his five year old son suffered a head bump. Ockerman was arrested for failure to yield right of way and to appear in Worthington court Tuesday evening. A second crash on state road 54 near Bloomfield involved Clifford Covey and a party in the auto. Miss Andis was treated for injuries and Covey was arrested for failure to give a hand signal with court appearance set.
