Washington March 4 The Milwaukee union leader Harold Christoffel was convicted of perjury for denying Communist ties. The jury found him guilty on six counts, with the word guilty pronounced 72 times, and a five day delay before sentencing to allow an appeal. Christoffel faces up to 60 years in prison.

Rites for Soldier General Attacks Will Be Monday
Funeral arrangements for Pvt. James E. Armpriester aged 20 of Linton are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Welch and Cornett Funeral Home with Chaplain Lester Abel and Deaconess Nola D. Yoder officiating. Military rites by the Linton American Legion post. The body arrives Saturday at 7:57 a.m. from Milwaukee, escorted by local Legion members. Armpriester, born March 28, 1923 in Dugger, served with the 543d Engineers' Corps and died accidentally in Sydney on Jan. 23, 1944. He leaves a widow June and son James Michael, with parents and siblings in the area.

In South Bend Indiana Corky a cocker spaniel chased a muskrat into a 490 foot drain pipe.
