Michroe McCown of Pur Ale University inspected Greene County fruit conditions last week and praised management this year. Most orchards show scab under control with timely sprays, though some have notable secondary infections requiring lime-sulphur spray. Top alternatives include four quarts of liquid lime sulphur or four pounds dry lime sulphur with four to six pounds lime per 100 gallons of water, sprayed thoroughly on the tops.
