Graduate of One Week Is Killed
Dennis Scheidt an 18 year old captain of the Hammond Noll High School 1966 football team was killed when his car was struck by a Monon Railroad train near St John Indiana. Witnesses said the car did not slow at the crossing and Scheidt apparently did not see the approaching train. The Indiana traffic toll rose Tuesday with at least 573 fatalities for 1967, eight more than the previous year.
