Wade Millman a wealthy Coatesville farmer who once preached his own funeral sermon to a crowd in a rural church died at Methodist hospital Indianapolis at age 90. The obituary notes his oak coffin from trees on his farm and a tombstone imported from Switzerland, with six pallbearers already paid in advance.
Young people of the Linton Christian Youth Advocates will host a banquet at 6:30 PM Wednesday in the Linton Baptist church. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish and their own tea service. Entertainment includes the Dugger male quartet and Marilyn Baker of Linton on the grockenspiel. Roy O Haver, president of the C Y A, will MC. A large turnout is expected.
Washington June 15 Francis C Harrington WPA administrator told the house committee that a 15000 maximum cost restriction on WPA projects would wreck relief. He defended the program saying inquiries showed misstatements and praised WPA's record as one of integrity.
Washington June 13 prospects for quick adjournment faded as a prolonged Senate debate over neutrality revision continued. President Roosevelt returning from Hyde Park sought a definite adjournment date to finalize plans for a swing to the Pacific coast and Alaska.
Word of the death in Palestine Illinois of Harvey Todd aged 82 was received in Linton today. He passed away at his daughter Mrs Roy Higgerson home after an illness of six months. Mr Todd and Mrs Higgerson are former Linton residents and he spent much time with them here. Funeral services will be held at 1 00 oclock Wednesday afternoon in Willow Hill Tu
Three Linton youths Willie Steele Willie Candler and Raymond Fisher pleaded guilty in Indianapolis federal court to 10 charges. Steele and Candler admitted stealing a Herschel Lynn automobile and driving it toward Crab Orchard Illinois, bringing the case under federal jurisdiction. Fisher confessed to forging and filling a narcotics prescription in Dugger. Local chief Dan Skully and Dr. M N Thayer testified in Indianapolis last week.
Gast Construction Co of Warsaw submitted the low bid of 195 915 09 for paving 5378 miles on road 57 from Newberry north to south of road 54 in Greene county. The project signals possible new bridge over White River at Newberry but no start or completion dates were announced.
Mrs Martha Jane Ward 77 formerly of Lone Tree community died at her home at 4 30 this morning. Survived by two sons Fern and Frank of Jasonville route five daughters Edith Sinders Glenna Smith Flossie Ward Hazel Newwent Jewel Clemens and two brothers John and Henry McClelland and half brother Walter Squires. The Linton City council will appoint a new three year member to the school board at its regular meeting in City Hall tonight. The appointee will replace Bert Kinman whose term ends Aug 1. Other board members are Ed Fisher and Guy L Moss. City officials expect strong turnout from residents.
Greencastle Ind June 15 A cash gift of 100000 for endowing a chair of social and business economics at DePauw University was announced during commencement by President Clyde E Wildman. The donation comes from Mrs Allen A Wilkinson of Indianapolis in memory of her husband who died in 1929. He was a member of the Allen A Wilkinson Lumber Company with branches in several Midwestern cities.

Ray Zuelke a 34 year old Milwaukee man and Audrie M. King 25 of Rockford were killed when a two passenger plane caught fire and crashed at the Rockford Country Club golf course. Witnesses said Zuelke steered the burning craft away from a playground about 1,000 feet up and 150 feet from safety, sacrificing himself to spare children.
Greene County Women's Democratic club will hold its regular June meeting in Newark at noon Wednesday. A covered dish luncheon will start at noon followed by an afternoon program of entertainment and speaking. Members were urged to attend and arrange their own transport as no bus will be provided.

A Bloomington court completed a special venire and selected twelve jurors for the State of Indiana versus Sanford Slim Humphreys in the 1935 murder of Mrs. Mary Ellis. The panel included Clarence Gillett Charles Tilford Don Keller Thomas Richardson and Meira Sherman among others.
