Windstorm Leaves Widespread Damage Across Greene County
A Tuesday afternoon storm with cloudburst rain small tornado high winds and hail caused extensive damage in Greene and neighboring counties. A barn was flattened at Elmer Boone farm seven miles west of Dugger an auto and limb were damaged in Linton and porches roofs and power lines were toppled. Dozens of trees were blown down in towns including Linton Bloomfield Jasonville Newberry Lyons Switz City Dugger and Sandborn with telephone service disrupted and crops harmed.

Mrs Isis George McCart 72 of Lyons died at her home at 2:00 this morning after a short illness. Born June 15, 1884 in Browns Town she lived much of her life in Lyons and had recently moved to Sandborn. She leaves two daughters Myrtle Jackson and Genevieve Rose two sons Theodore and Chester, and brother Charles George. Funeral at Jenkins and Sons Lyons 2:00 Friday with Rev James Boyle. Burial Prairie Chapel cemetery.

Two Waterworks Workers Marooned At Buck Creek Plant
Cliff Taylor Lester Bennett and Mrs Taylor from the Linton Municipal Waterworks were marooned for about 12 hours at the Buck Creek Pumping Station east of Linton. Flooded yard and surrounding water blocked access while the men and a resident sheltered inside. Water began receding at 6 AM and by 8 AM vehicles could reach the plant road. Taylor recalled a past June 21 1956 isolation with only two candy bars for sustenance. This time food came from his home as water did not enter the dwelling.
