In Bloomfield, Judge J Raymond Powell dismissed the case by ruling Baker township no longer exists. The suit by Nicholson trustee against Martin county auditor Cobb ended with Nicholson stripped of township status and Baker merged into Micheltree township.
Clay County Coroner Dr. TR. Kck. Webster exonerated Charles Magee, driver for Ray Miller Trucking of Terre Haute, of blame in the East Brazil crash that killed Albion Whittier of Cedar Grove. Two witnesses remain to be heard. evidence shows Magee followed highway rules and was not negligent.
In Bloomfield court business two divorce petitions were filed Fern Heenan from Clyde Heenan and Mary Schlosser from Jerome Schlosser. Licenses were issued for Harry Royer Evansville pharmacist and Winona Boston both of Linton plus Leslie E Cunningham Missouri porter and Alice Dye of Bloomfield. third marriage for both Cunningham and Dye.
Myra Freeland 85, longtime Bloomfield resident, died Friday after a fall at sister Mrs. Emma Eveleigh's Beveleigh home. Pneumonia developed following congested lungs from the accident. Surviving nieces and nephews include W. S. Freeland Arvie Freeland and Harry Freeland. Funeral at 2:00 Sunday from Eveleigh home. Rev. N C Pfeiffer officiating. Burial in Grandview Cemetery.
The Miners face the Farnsworth Tigers in a Sunday baseball game on the Farnsworth diamond. Management says the Miners are rounding into form and preparing to go places. A noon bus leaves the Kroger corner to transport players to Farnsworth.
Roy Combs of Worthington underwent a major operation this morning. Mrs. Pearl Headley was discharged to her home this morning.

The Hershey Museum of Pennsylvania Dutch and colonial lore in Hershey Pennsylvania has attracted more than 11 500 visitors since it opened last November 12 according to curator Richard Light.
Robert Lee Fitzpatrick of Linton route 2 had an appendectomy at Mary Sherman Hospital in Sullivan on Thursday.
The Linton First Christian Church will hold its annual Children's Day program during the regular Sunday school session at 9 30 a m. Students will attend count and offering, then gather in the auditorium for the program. Offerings fund foreign mission stations run by Christian churches. Rev B H Bruner will preach in the morning service. No evening services in summer.
Goodwin V. Hail of Vincennes pleaded guilty to keeping a gaming device at a carnival near Bloomington. He was fined 50 dollars and costs and sentenced to 30 days at the Indiana State Farm by Circuit Judge Donald A. Rogers after two plainclothes state policemen arrested him. The Monarch Exposition and Blue Ribbon Shows carnival opened here Monday.
London dispatches describe a planned New York reception for Charles Lindbergh that newspapers predicted would outshine the King and Queen’s visit. Headlines promise 4,000,000 cheering amid ships, sirens, and din as Lindbergh’s return is celebrated in the city.

In Franklin on Sugar creek near the Smyley Mill community two eight and six year old sisters Louise Robbins and Rita Margaret Robbins wandered from home and drowned while wading. Their sister Pansy four watched sobbing as neighbors helped drag the eight foot pool where the girls apparently fell in. Louise was in Needham school second grade. Rita Margaret had not started school.
Free street dancing could be held on North Main street during the city's monthly Community Days. The Recreation Orchestra led by Bert Brown plans the event with a public address system to reach all dancers and spectators. Moose Hall dances have drawn overflow crowds, organizers said.

In Tokyo today Emperor Hirohito received Paul V. McNutt American high commissioner to the Philippines Eugene Doman accompanied the American official at the audience. McNutt planned to reboard the liner President Coolidge at Yokohama after traveling from Kobe. Earlier Indianapolis announced a large welcome for McNutt amid presidential speculation for 1940.
Indiana unemployment data show a May drop in compensable claims in the Linton district to 281 per week, the lowest this year, with 328 new applications down from 338 in April. statewide figures: 19 200 compensable claims May, 11 851 new claims April May. repeat claims rise slightly.
A home made burglary alarm connected Theodore Huge’s house and his nearby gas station stopped a theft. Three burglars fled with merchandise worth 136 dollars but were scared off by the alarm when Huge answered it. Police pursued the trio after the incident.
