New 16 Inch Water Line Nears Completion in Linton
Work began late last month on a seven mile 16 inch water line from Linton wells at Lene to the pumping station. The project caps a 1967 initiative costing 766000 with 600000 from a revenue bond and the rest from an EDA grant. Auto Collision Near Midland Injures, Notices Operator License
State Trooper Mick Inman investigated a two car crash on State Road 59 three-fourths mile north of Midland at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Billy Johnson 26 of Jasonville drove a 1966 auto north on 59 attempting to pass a 1968 auto driven by Clarence Bedwell as he turned into a driveway. Johnson struck Bedwell’s front end, skidded 100 feet and both vehicles sustained about $300 damage. Johnson was jailed on operator’s license charges.

Disturbance Strikes Indianapolis Black Neighborhood
A five block area in Indianapolis saw a supermarket burn and stores looted as rocks were hurled at fire trucks and police. Two white officers were injured and firearms and a walkie talkie were taken amid arson threats and hostile crowds. Missing SAC RC135 Vanishes After Takeoff From Shemya
A four engine RC135 with 19 aboard disappeared minutes after leaving Shemya on a flight to Bilson Air Force Base near Fairbanks. An extensive search in the Bering Sea followed with Coast Guard and Air Force planes deployed through the night. The Pentagon said the craft was not shot down and initial distress beacons proved to be faulty equipment testing.

Fighting reported in Middle East with several killed
Six Arab guerrillas and one Israeli were killed in three clashes late Thursday night, with four Arabs dying near the Damiya Bridge and two at Be er near Eilat.
