Brig. Gen. Bastion announced Mast er Sgt. Frederic Hensel is the first WW II battle casualty at Percy Jones General Hospital to lose parts of both arms and legs. The 26 year old, from Corbin Kentucky, resides in Salem Indiana, served eight years and fought in Leyte Guam Iwo Jima Okinawa. He enlisted in 1937 and will turn 27 on August 3 with a anniversary on the 12th.

Albert C. Mathena, 65, died Tuesday morning at 11 50 at his residence. He was born October 23 1879 and married Artie Capehart January 1 1901. He leaves a widow five sons a daughter two brothers a half brother and a U S Army son stationed at Alexander Louisiana. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 PM at M J Aikin & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Vern Stoops officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview cemetery.
