More than 225 baskets of groceries candy and toys were distributed to needy families in Linton as Associated Charities closed this year's drive. The effort benefited from school children and local clubs with trucks provided by Allen A Wilkinson Lumber Co New Union Lumber Co and Linton City gas department.
Mrs John Schaffer and her daughter Mrs Estel Reintjes of near this city depart tomorrow afternoon for Indianapolis to attend the wedding of their nephew and cousin Billy Butler.

The Linton Frank Courtney American Legion post rifle club lost to Lyons by two points. Final scores were Lyons 1008, Linton 1006 with top Linton scorers Frederick 221 and Russel 204 while Lyons led with Fields 218 and Watson 206.
Pat Patterson of Bloomfield treated after automobile crash with both legs broken. Condition today listed as good. Rosa Bean of Jasonville had a minor operation. Mrs. H C Anshutz and baby boy returned home in Worthington. Earl Hubbell discharged to home this afternoon.

H G Patterson of near Bloomfield sustained two broken legs and minor injuries when his car collided with a truck driven by Kenneth Kendall of Vicksburg on State Road 54 two miles east of Bloomfield near Harve Mains station. He was taken to Freeman Grene county hospital in Linton, where officials reported his condition as satisfactory.
Lyons merchants will host a community singing on the streets at 8 p m tonight. All residents are invited to join and children through age 12 will receive a Santa Claus treat.
Detroit December 24 Henry Ford prepares for a second major clash with a federal agency as union leaders backed by a Labor Relations Board ruling seek a conference with Ford officials to push for industrial peace. Ford moves to Court to overrule the decision calling it wrong and unjust while facing charges of a relentless anti union campaign against the United Automobile Workers affiliate of the Committee for Industrial Organization.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie Dunning wife of Oscar Dunning will be held at 2 30 PM Saturday from the North Mission Apostolic church Rev Grant Dunning will officiate for the well known Linton resident who died Thursday after a week long illness Interment will follow in the family plot at Fairview cemetery
Weather forecaster predicts a white Christmas for Linton and Greene County if the today forecast proves accurate. The vicinity is expected to see rain changing to snow tonight with mostly cloudy skies and much colder conditions by Saturday.

San Francisco December 24 United States customs and postal authorities with the navy launched a coast wide operation to counter possible espionage. After three letters were seized from the Tatsuta Maru before sailing for the Far East officials investigated Bremer ton naval yard activity while noting the letters may not be opened for two months.

Daniel Pitcher age 84 of near Dugger died at 2 PM Thursday after a four day illness from heart disease. Born August 17, 1853 in Indiana, he lived here 71 years and farmed locally. Survived by widow, two daughters Eva Pitcher and Mrs Ernie Willis, two sisters Lydia Deckard and Mary Davies, and brother William Pitcher. Funeral held at family home with burial in Hickory cemetery. Newkirk funeral service of Pleasantville in charge.
