Linton high school's three basketball teams won last night's carnival at the local gym. The varsity beat Bloomfield 27 to 24 with Woodward scoring 14 of Linton's points. The B team also defeated Bloomfield 18 to 12 in a tight game. The Minerettes crushed Jasonville 42 to 9, led by Beecher 14, Hixson 10 and Shaw 18 as Linton dominated early and often.

Peters burg Ind Dec 22 Sylvester Thompson 59, longtime Republican figure in southern Indiana, died in San Angelo Texas yesterday of influenza while recently moving there to run in real estate. He once edited the Petersburg Press, led Petersburg schools, served as Republican county chairman, and was district superintendent for the Standard Oil company’s Indiana Kentucky Louisiana division. The body will be returned home for burial.
