Dine Hill Mrs Ed Greenwood Mrs al sace Anderson Miss Margaret Mc Donald Mr and Mrs Lloyd Priest and John Reeves all of this city visited with friends in Terre Haute Thursday evening. Mr and Mrs Otto Mehr of Teagan Utah and Mr and Mrs J Roland Clark of Dayton Ohio visited recently with Mr and Mrs comes Gayton at the phone at 129 Fifth street southeast.
The Columbian Chapter of the Einstein Stag meets at the Masonic hall at 8 p.m. for a Christmas program. The UW G L club joins Mrs Clarence Gillett at 8 p.m. for a Christmas party with members and friends invited.
Chieatete Council of Pocahontas meets at 7 PM with members asked to bring a ten cent grab bag gift and treats. Santa Crus will attend. Metropolitan Lodge No. 193 K of P meets at 7:80 PM. Stay Scouts hold a regular session at 7 PM.
Tuesday gatherings include Girl Scouts at 7 p.m. in regu lar session and a Socialist group meeting at 7 30 p.m. Quapaw Council No. 89 of Pocahontas convenes at 7 p.m. Greene County Post No. 1162 VFW meets on East Vincennes Street at 7 30 p.m.
The THURSDAY Home League meets at Army hall at 1 30 p m. Baptist church choir practices at 7 30 p m. First Christian church choir practices at 7 30 p m. All members urged to attend. Loyal Order of Moose No 1434 meets at 7 30 p m. American Legion Post meets at home at 7 30 p m. Hiawatha club holds ae ny meeting at Red Men hall. Titus temple No 42 Pythian Sisters meet at 7 30 p m.
Quapaw Tribe No 143 Improved Order of Red Men will meet at 7 p.m. The M E L choir will meet at the church for practice at 7 p.m.
Eagle Encampment No 299 will hold a regular session at pi. The notice reflects a scheduled gathering with attendance details and procedural info for members.
Soron Reformed Truth Saalkers class of the Savoia Reformed church met at Mrs. HK J. Meker on Thursday afternoon with excellent attendance. Mrs. Helena Heilman opened the meeting with scripture, Christmas hymns were sung, and readings were given by Mrs. Fred Kramer. Rev E C Jaberg led in prayer as officers were retained and funds allocated for current expenses and gifts to Rev Conrad and the Orphans home. The evening closed with a Christmas contest, refreshments, and announcements for the next meeting.
The Young People of the Church are rehearsing for a Christmas program. Mrs. Winnie Hewitt of Linton stayed with her sister Mrs. Clive Bedwell and Mr. Bedwell overnight Tuesday. Mrs. Lelia Wright visited her daughter Mrs. Wesley Padgett and Mrs. Join Padgett Wednesday evening.
The Atlas Community Club hosted a Thursday Christmas party at Mrs. George Stevens’s Atlas home marking the fourth anniversary of Mrs. Stevens. A covered dish noon meal preceded a Christmas program with contests won by Mrs. Floy Booker, Mrs. Mstel Reintjes, and Mrs. Knowles. Participants included Mrs. Bill Reintjes, Mrs. Jess Knowles, Mrs. Harry Wade, Mrs. Stevens, and Mrs. Watel Reintjes. The club announced a scholarship for a worthy Lin ton High School attendee and a youth currently supported by the club. The next meeting will be in two weeks with Mrs. Knowles as hostess.
Mrs Wallace F Alkire former Mary Dennis was honored with a linen shower at the Alkire home decorated for Christmas. A contest prize went to Mrs John Dorrough. Cookies candy apples and moonlight punch were served to many guests. Mrs Alkire left for Wayne Michigan to join her husband at the Graham Paige factory.
Mrs Stanley Collins and Mrs Bris Rousch hosted the Truth Seekers Class of the U B church Thursday afternoon at Mrs Stanley Colins home. The event featured a Christmas program with songs scripture reading and a prize contest followed by a grab bag and Christmas luncheon. The next meeting is planned for January with Mrs John Correll.
Dr and Mrs E V Bull entertain Thurs day Night Dinner Bridge club at their East Vincentes street home with festive decor silver poinsettias and candle holders. After a small tables dinner, bridge games produced women and men high score prizes awarded to Mrs Floyd McCullough and Homer Fordyce, with consolation noted.
In a tense dining room scene Janet and Martin Hemingway confront strained tensions as Larrabee and Grace search for a missing murder knife. The hunt extends to the fourth floor where Delia’s locked room resists entry, and Penny aids the investigation while fearing what they may find.
Gifts placed under the Christmas tree were exchanged at the close of the evening. Five guests attended with several couples and the hosts present including Mrs Otto Harding and Dr Ts V Bull. Regrets were received from two couples.
Miss Margaret McDonald entertained the 8 o Clock Bridge Club with a Christmas dinner at her home. Guests enjoyed a single long table, prizes for high scores went to Goldie Stewart, Gilbert Lynn, and Virginia Holden, followed by gifts from a decorated tree. Next meeting set for January 2 at Mrs. Gilbert Lynn’s home.
Mrs J F Garrison and Mrs Or ville Beasley hosted a lovely dinner party. Attendees included Misses Ing Brewer Gaynell Workman Duhue and Mesdames Elllis Plew Maurice Dye Charles Jakerson Earl Skemp Joe Thompson Arthur Tyron Wayne Maxwell George Straser of Swiss City. The first meeting of the new year will be January 3 with Mrs Wayne Maxwell as hostess.
Carl Brisson stars in Ship Cafe with Judge and Eddie Davis in a lively musical Western program at the Sher Ritz, featuring Sagebrush Troubadour, Gene Autry, Barbara Pepper and Smiley Burnette. Top Hat returns at Sher Ritz with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, praised for spectacular dancing and song renditions. Grand Theatre offers Melody Romance Comedy Drama and Gayety.
Ginger Rogers stars in In Person at the Grand Theatre tomorrow with George Brent as romantic lead and Alan Mowbray as suitor. Grant Mitchell Samuel Hinds and Joan Breslau appear in supporting roles as Rogers performs two original dance numbers and sings three musical hits. A Major Bowes Act and Metrotone News are also on the program.
The First Christian Church schedules Bible school at 9 30 a m with a Christmas pageant by the primary department and a Sunday evening pageant The Heart of Christmas Superintendent William Cunningham invites all members and friends to morning service at 10 35 a m and all meetings next Sunday Pastor M V Foster calls it a great day.
Cub Scouts leaders announce that the regular meeting scheduled for next Monday night will not be held.
