Deer Hunt Ends Five Point Buck’s Reign Near Bloomfield

Near Bloomfield the five point buck that had harassed cattle on Ray Fuller’s farm was killed in a state conservation hunt led by Officer Bastain. The venison carcass was donated to the Bloomfield school lunch program and served to pupils. Four other deer on the farm remain at large with the cattle.

Holiness Group to Meet Sunday at Linton Nazarene Church

The Greene County Holiness association visits Linton Church of The Nazarene for the monthly evangelistic service at 2 PM Sunday. Special song numbers by group groups and Rev. Berniece Roebel will speak at Worthington revival earlier. Rev. J W Jones invites the public.

Linton Man Hurt In Fall Of Slate

Thomas Francis of Linton was injured Wednesday night at the Little Betty mine between Sullivan and Dugger. A large slate fragment struck his left knee, tearing ligaments and causing a severe sprain. He is listed in satisfactory condition at Freeman Greene County Hospital.

Explosions at Tecumseh Plant Kill Eight and Hurt Sixteen

Two blasts rocked the Tecumseh power plant in Topeka Kansas killing eight workers and injuring sixteen more with about twenty additional treated at the scene. The explosions cut power to Topeka for over two hours and a cause remained undetermined.

Christmas Party for Keystone Bible Class

Indiana officers cleared in bribery case quashed

Four high ranking Indiana state police officers had indictments for conspiracy and attempted bribery dismissed by Special Judge Frank B. Russell in Montgomery Circuit Court. The officers included Maj. Robert A. O Neal and Captains John Barton Robert Bush and Kermit Lewis.

New County Association Formed In Greene County

Officers for the Greene County High School Principals and Coaches Association were elected at a Teen Cartteen meeting. Fallis E. Ward of Linton was named president, Henry Pergal of Scotland vice president, Lloyd Mitchell of Midland secretary, and Marvin Cave of Worthington treasurer. All Greene County schools except Switz City attended, with a dinner at the Roosevelt hotel preceding business. The group discussed plans for the Wabash Valley tournament, and the next meeting is set for 6 p.m. Thursday January 6 in Linton.

Sorority Report Details Tri Kappa Educational Charities

A Tri Kappa report outlines charity cultural and educational work in Indiana and locally. The state supports scholarships totaling nearly $90 000 in 35 years with a Revolving fund offering interest free loans. Gamma Tau of Linton funded about 4600 dollars for 18 graduates since 1928. Pupils Screened in Linton Stockton High School Testing Day

Screening tests were given to all Linton Stockton high school pupils and eighth graders at the local school building. Checks covered heart, blood pressure, teeth, and eyes with Snellen tests. Results will become part of permanent records and copies sent to parents noting health defects. Tuberculosis Patch tests will be offered to un-x-rayed pupils.

Three Greene County Men Inducted Into Army Today

The Bloomfield draft board announced three more Greene County youths left for U S Army induction. Lester Irvin Criss of Jasonville route two Alva Dean Hasler of Bloomfield and George D Wildman of Bloomfield were sent to the Bloomington Recruiting Office to begin service, bringing the total inducted under the new Selective Service program to five.
