The project, started last September, will be completed this spring and begin serving visitors and members, with membership expanding beyond Linton.

Possible contributors include Holder Gilmore Fish Ogle Madaris Moss Blevens Humphreys Cole Mariner Pope Reeves. Welders debut in new uniforms in local gym.
Former Kansas Governor Alfred M. Landon announced he would not seek the 1940 presidency. He arrived in Washington to attend the National Press Club gridiron dinner and planned a 4:30 p.m. White House meeting with President Roosevelt, who hinted at a general discussion.
The David D. Wiles camp 86 United Spanish War Veterans and Auxiliary will elect officers at 7 o'clock Monday evening. All members are urged to attend.
Logan Arnold, 74, of Eldon, and his sister Mrs. N. J. Brown, 84, of Cape Girardeau, had not seen each other for 67 years though living under 100 miles apart. A recent visit brought the siblings together in Cape Girardeau Missouri.
James Dalhover, 51, once a farm boy turned trigger man for the Al Brady gang, was convicted of murdering State Policeman Paul Minneman and sentenced to death in the electric chair. He was moved to the South Bend jail after the verdict, with Judge Thomas W. Slick setting Monday at 2 p.m. for formal sentencing.
The Linton city fire department made two runs today to West Linton. The first to the Harve Rice dwelling extinguished a small roof fire, the second to the Fred Bough home put out another roof blaze. No extensive damage was reported.
In Bicknell Floyd Barton aged 47 suffered a fractured pelvis after being crushed at the North Side Mine and was moved to Good Samaritan hospital in Vincennes. In Wheatland Luke Reel 28 of Standard Coal was trapped by a top coal fall while near a cutting machine and sustained a fractured third lumbar vertebra with internal injuries and shock. he is hospitalized and the Standard mine officials investigate.
Chicago wholesalers estimate Americans spend about 100 million dollars annually on musical instruments. Piano accordions and guitars are reported as the most popular items in this growing market.
Milton Schrorer of Switz City was admitted to the hospital today after suffering a fractured skull. His condition is reported to be fair.
President Roosevelt will confer with tax experts from the house and treasury at 4:20 p.m. today. Doughton of the house ways and means committee will lead, accompanied by Rep. Fred Vinson and Roswell Magill to iron out drafting tax revision difficulties.
The Interstate Commerce Commission overruled a railroad motion to raise freight rates by 15 percent with five days notice. Commissioner Clyde B. Aitchison announced the ruling after hearings began, rejecting the plea to increase rates immediately.
Washington Dec 10 House leaders threatened a night session to push a final farm bill vote. Chairman Marvin Jones and Majority Leader Sam Rayburn predicted passage by tonight with major features restored. They expect a party vote to overcome earlier amendments and solidify production controls through soil conservation and marketing limits in bumper years.
Garland Ladson will chair the bangle sales drive for Linton junior high. John A. Watkins leads the Greene County Anti Tuberculosis association in distributing over 1000 bangles to pupils for Christmas purchases. Greene County receipts total 360.04 with Bloomfield and Linton among top post offices. today’s total trails last year by ten dollars.
Quentin D. Wert state supervisor of student aid will discuss the National Youth Administration on youth employment and aid at the Sullivan Rotary Club noon meeting Monday December 13 in the Baptist church. Wert will outline NYA work supplying part time jobs for about 2 500 out of school youths in Indiana and more than 6 000 needy students in high school and college.
Reports from ShanghaI say Japanese shock troops breach Nanking walls and gates and pour into the city after midnight. Bitter street to street fighting follows as Chinese defenders resist in the capital of the Ming dynasty during heavy aerial and artillery bombardment.
Waye Geatches and Chester Stoeckel formed the winning team in Linton state wide carrier salesmanship contest. Jack McGriffin and Donald Bowers took second. The event advances 742 carriers toward regional and state finals through February and March in Indianapolis.
James K. Gibson of H street northeast received word that his sister died in Australia. The death occurred November 8 and the notice was mailed from Scotland, arriving yesterday.
Weather forecasters predicted a short warm period over the weekend but a large polar air mass looms to sweep the U S next week. Temperatures rose up to 30 degrees in the west as a deep low pressure system moved in from the Pacific. The eastern half remained below freezing with ice on streets and stoves blamed for weather deaths reaching at least 100. In Linton and Greene county temperatures climbed from 9 to 25 degrees as sunshine returned.
Figures show Greene county savings and loan association issued home mortgages totaling 108000 plus 410.00 in the first eleven months of 1936. The Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis backs member institutions and offers monthly amortized loans for buying building or remodeling in Bloomfield through Farmers and Mechanics Federal Savings and Loan association. The district bank serves as a credit reservoir and agent for the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation which insures local accounts.
Milton Schrorer of near Switz City is in Freeman Greene County Hospital with a fractured skull after being knocked down by a calf while driving the animal on his farm. His condition this afternoon is listed as fair.
