Mt Mellick Club Hosts Christmas Afternoon

Mrs Henry Freund welcomed members of the Mt Mellick club to her home Friday for a social afternoon. The club decorated for Christmas and voted to buy Christmas seals and donate canned fruit to Freeman Greene County hospital. Mrs Leedham joined the club and Mrs Emma Humphreys will entertain at the next meeting in two weeks.

Sassafras P T A Enjoys Pleasant School Meeting

Sassafras P T A held its regular meeting at the school house with entertainment by Elaine Grey Tincher and Bruce Tin cher on piano. Emma Lou Wright and Elaine Grey sang, Hal Wright played harmonica, J F Tincher and sons performed, and a trio of Emma Lou, Wanda, and Cortene Wright sang. A Christmas program is planned for Friday, Dec 18.

Mrs Mae Corlett Weds Oscar Auten in Harrisburg Church

Mrs Mae Corlett a West Linton resident married Oscar Auten of Eldorado Ill in a single ring ceremony at the First Baptist church parsonage in Harrisburg. The couple will reside at 2009 Mitchell street Eldorado Illinois.

Pleasantville Net Team Triumphs Over Merom Beavers

Pleasantville Blue Streaks defeated Merom Beavers 24 to 18 on Merom court. They led early and were ahead 12 to 10 at halftime. The Little Streaks captured their fifth straight win by beating Merom B 14 to 11. Odon will bring two teams to Pleasantville for rematches.

Visitors Welcomed to Burris School Conference

Visitors from across Indiana will tour Burris school at Ball State Teachers College to study modern education. The theme Education is self-knowledge and rational self-direction will frame a symposium on What Kind of Schools Do We Want. Dr. L A Pittenger will welcome guests. demonstrations span elementary to high school. The student plan projects in a national self directed program.

The journalism class introduces a board of editors including Charles Dancan Harry Feery James Stethley and Warren Lash with Helen Tiseman remaining society editor and Wayne Martin as sports editor. Lois Freund leads typing staff while Lillian Gabbard heads the freshman sophomore and junior classes. The staff emphasizes starting typing earlier to publish news sooner and upholds Cleanliness as a key to character and citizenship.
