Forecasters predict a gradual cooling over five days in Indiana but mild conditions persist through the weekend. The period ending next Wednesday should see average highs 5 to 9 degrees above normal, with highs 38 to 46 and lows 23 to 32. Today’s highs 47 to the lower 50s, tonight’s lows in the low 30s to upper 30s, and Saturday highs 45 to the low 50s. Sunday remains mild.

Downstate Men Are Latest Traffic Victims
Two men died in a Thursday night crash at Evansville raising Indiana 1965 traffic deaths to 1,356. Evansville attorney Robert Perrin, 35, and Newburgh resident John Merrill, 22, were named. Merrill allegedly ran a stop sign, colliding with Perrin’s car and striking a house. Passenger Jerry Wood Reeder, 18, of Henderson, Ky., was injured. Earlier, near Indianapolis, Herbert White, 59, of Lawrence, was killed when his small truck hit a larger truck at an intersection. Cornel Spears, 26, of Brownsburg, faces preliminary reckless homicide charges after saying he could not stop at a red signal.

Mayor A M Risher announced new dump hours for Linton City Dump southeast of Linton. It will be open six days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. closed after 5 p.m. on weekdays and all day Sunday. A new ramp is in use and users must back up and unload from the back. No dumping on roads or ramps and fires are banned. The area was cleaned up and requires cooperation to stay neat.
