Polite Cotton Dies in Freeman-Greene County Hospital
Polite Paul Cotton 79 a France native died at 10 PM Tuesday in Freeman-Greene County Hospital. Born Sept 4 1869 he came to the U S in 1906 and married in 1908. He worked in coal mines most recently Peabody No 48 and retired seven years ago. He was a U M W of A member and lived in Glenburn Lun-Evening community cottages. Wife Marie Mercier Cotton died in 1942. Survived by four stepsons George Octave Mercier of Linton Albert Mercier of West Frankfort and Arthur Mercier of Princeton. Body at Welch and Cornett Funeral Home awaiting funeral plans.

The Indiana Bell Telephone Company in Linton hosts an Open House tomorrow night inviting people of all ages. Manager C L Foster and a committee including Martha Tryon and Charles Tubby outline an entertaining and educational program with displays from across the state and a guided tour of the building’s equipment and switchboard operations. Visitors can stay freely but the guided tour lasts about thirty minutes.

Sullivan Ind December 1 U P Terre Haute Wiley has been announced as winner of the Wa bash Valley High School Association football title for 1948. Jesse Boston president of the association and superintendent of Sullivan county schools announced that Wiley got 42 points under the association's point systems method of deciding championships. Attica Ind won the six man football championship. Wiley barely edged city rival Garfield which had 41 points. Among the 14 Indiana and 13 Minors schools playing football in the association were Casey Ill which came in third with 3345 points Robinson Ill and Terre Haute Gerstmeyer each with 27 points Brazil Ind 2319 Marshall Ill and Bloomington Ind 23 each
