Chicago officials postponed the National Railroad Fair closing from September 6 to September 31 to accommodate thousands still wanting to visit. Fair president Maj Lenox R Lohr announced the move as more than 1 500 000 people have already toured the exposition.

The Linton Lions Club and Band Parents Association sponsor a Labor Day program at Linton High School Park starting Monday afternoon with guest speaker Peter Philippe of Washington DC and MWA official Ralph Day as master of ceremonies. A Court of Honor for Linton Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will be held at the local Conservation club Friday at 6 30 pm. A covered dish supper precedes the ceremony. The program includes exhibits and scouting work with awards to Jerry Rupert Ranger award and Ronald Johnson Eagle award among others. The public is invited bringing a covered dish and table service.
In Honolulu on August 25 a B 29 bound for Okinawa lost an engine and crashed at Hickam Field. Sixteen crew members died and four officers survived. Four were rescued and taken to Tripler Hospital as witnesses described a ground skid and 500 foot flames. The crash occurred eight minutes after takeoff from Spokane bound for Kwajalein with 7000 gallons of gasoline. Names of the dead would be released later.
Weather observer O L Brown reports 97 degrees at 12 30 pm and predicts 98 by afternoon as continued heat over the next 48 hours brings no relief. Tuesday reached 98 degrees, with no cooldown anticipated soon.

Informal agreement announced here today notes Friday Sept 3 to be Boy Scout Day at the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis. All scouts in uniform or with registration cards admitted free. A 7 o'clock meeting at the First Christian church will plan attendance. Troops 50 57 and 150 urged to attend.

Mrs Robert Kirby and son went home to Worthington this morning.
