Mitchell Man 21 Named in Charge After Kidnap Claim

Child Drowns Near Calvertville Rites Planned

An eight year old girl, Rena May Sullivan, drowned after stepping into a four to five foot pool in a small creek near Calvertville. Her body was recovered by her father and funeral arrangements are set for Wednesday at the Sullivan residence with burial in Solsberry Cemetery. She is survived by her parents, two half siblings, four half sisters, and grandparents. The body will be taken to Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield then returned home for lying in state.

Funeral Rites For Edward C White Held At Linton

Funeral services for Edward C White 69 of Hickory community near Dugger were conducted this afternoon at Welch and Cornett Funeral home. Rev Chester Scott and Rev R B Bald ridge officiated. Burial followed at Stafford Chapel Cemetery south of Linton. White moved from Dugger to near Linton 39 years ago and had been ill about a year and a half. He was born March 28 1879 in Sullivan County. Survived by widow Hattie, son Charlton M White of Bloomington, daughter Mrs Herschel Lynn of Linton, two brothers Floyd White of Indianapolis and Hud White of St Cloud Minnesota, and one granddaughter.

Eagles Lose Two Baseball Games

Chicago Gambler Slain In Brutal Illinois Gangland Killing

The blood smeared body of Leonard Giordano, 33, a Chicago gambler, was found near Highway 66 by a Sangamon county nightclub. Police say the manner of death and multiple bullet wounds suggest gangland execution, with two bloodied pistols found nearby possibly used as decoys.

Two Cars Collide on State Road 67 Near Lyons

At 11 30 Friday morning two autos collided on State Road 7 near the Lyons edge. Dr James S Simons of Lyons stopped to let others pass, then failed to see Milton Fuller of Toledo colored who struck the Simons car. Wedding Plans Ended by Fatal Accident Near Worthington

Richard Dale Sherman 22 formerly of Vicksburg and bride to be Miss Shirley Eshelman 22 of York Pa were injured in a 4 45 am crash on state road 67 three miles south of Worthington. His sister Sharon Sherman 17 of Vicksburg and a four month old baby survived uninjured. The car struck a road barricade at a highway repair site then hit a diesel dipper shovel. All three injured were treated at Freeman Greene county hospital. Sherman, Eshelman and Sherman sustained serious injuries. Sherman is with the U S Navy aboard the carrier Lady.

Linton-Stockton Band to Perform at Worthington Greene County Fair
