Adolph Lechien aged 61 former Linton resident died Sunday at St Joseph hospital Ann Arbor after a short illness. Born May 12 1887 he worked in local coal mines before moving to Ann Arbor in 1942 to run a filling station. Survived by widow Mrs Lora Lechien of Ann Arbor three sons Emil Adolph Lechien Jr Arthur Lechien of Ann Arbor two stepsons Herman Eugene of Ypsilanti two daughters Mrs Florence Tannehill and Mrs Mary Mounier of Linton two step-daughters Mrs Al Smith Caruthersville Missouri and Rose Mounier of Ann Arbor and 13 grandchildren. Body returned to Linton and placed at M J Aikin and Son Funeral Home then at Emil Lechien’s home. Funeral at 2 pm Wednesday at the Lechien home in South Linton burial in Fairview cemetery.

Welch Named Welfare Director In Greene County
Lowell Welch of Bloomfield is appointed director of the Greene County Department of Public Welfare effective Aug. 1, succeeding Herbert Hudson who resigned after eleven months. Hudson moves to a Civil Service post at Wright Field Dayton. Welch previously directed from Dec. 15, 1941, to May 31, 1942.

Woman 5 Injured Fatally In Wreck Near Here
Mrs. Rhodalou Fredericks 23 of Prairie Creek died from a broken neck and fractured skull after a motorcycle she rode with husband Max Fredericks overturned near the Triangle on state roads 54 and 59 northwest of Linton. The pair were en route to a Hunt family reunion when the crash occurred. The husband was treated for minor injuries. a companion, Carl Hale, was unaware of the collision. Funeral arrangements are set in Prairie Creek with burial in New Harmony.
