Dr. Larry Tangeman, 48, becomes Peru State College president succeeding Douglas Pearson. He helped establish an East Pakistan graduate school and research center in 1964 66. Tangeman highlights Peru’s long history and rural Nebraska ties, pledging strong bachelor programs and expanded collaborations with NU and Southeast Community College.
Republican national chairman William Brock will replace Howard Baker at a Nebraska fund raising dinner in Omaha. Baker canceled due to energy bill work. Brock, a former senator, agreed to pinch hit. About 650 tickets were sold at $100 each. The program will cite retired Sen. Roman Hruska.
